The 3 Best Wedding Venues in the Destin, FL Area

Wedding venues in Destin, Florida area are incredibly full of character and life. I am really blessed to have the opportunity to be a wedding photographer in this wonderful area.

The spring wedding season has passed so quickly! Now the fall wedding season will be in full swing soon. I thought it might be fun to list off my top 3 wedding venues in the Destin area. Since 2013, I had the privilege of photographing weddings all over Destin and really come to love a handful of venues. I look forward to the chance of photographing in quite a few new places in the upcoming year to expand this list!

The Barn at Water Oaks – Laurel Hill, FL

What makes it great?

  • Beauty! This venue is spectacular any time of the year!
  • It’s like your own personal piece of heaven with a southern charm! The venue sits on 20 acres of picturesque grounds so it feels secluded and simply yummy.
  • Offers a great amount of outdoor space for live bands and dancing, as well as covered seating and a bar area.
  • You also have the option of having your ceremony and reception indoors or outdoors, which is great since the Florida weather is so unpredictable.
  • The Barn Reception Room can handle a guest count up to 400 people or the Carriage Room that can hold  100 people.
  • Voted as the Best Wedding Barn Venue in the Southeast in 2017.

What is worth considering?

  • Distance! The only con I could think of is the distance this venue is from the Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola, and Panama City.

Eden Gardens State Park – Santa Rosa Beach, FL

What makes it great?

  • The WEDDING TREE! The wedding oat, which is over 600 years old, is the perfect backdrop for your ceremony. An open space surrounds the tree allows plenty of space to set up chairs.
  • There is nothing else like it in the Destin area. A historic mansion built in 1895 sits on 163 acres of immaculate land with moss-draped live oaks surrounded by lawns, gardens, and a reflection pool.
  • Beautiful gardens in the Spring and you can also take photos on the dock overlooking Tucker Bayou.
  • A pavilion is on site to provide shelter from the Florida weather and insects. It has space for 100 people. There’s also a paved area next to the pavilion that can hold more seating or even a spot to have your dance floor!

What is worth considering?

  • All Florida State Parks prohibit alcohol during normal operating hours. So, alcohol is only allowed after sundown!

Henderson Beach State Park – Destin, FL

What makes it great?

  • Breathtaking sunsets! Pristine white sugar sand beach and more than 6,000 feet of scenic shoreline border the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Dunes, dunes, and more dunes! I personally love to take photos of couples sitting in the sand with grassy sea oats!
  • Pavilions are available to rent which is convenient to have a covered reception area after your ceremony. In case of bad weather, a ceremony under the pavilion as a backup is a PLUS!
  • Location! Henderson Beach State Park is in the heart of Destin, which means a ton of hotels in the nearby surrounding areas for all your guest!

What is worth considering?

  • Pavilions are available for daytime rental from September through May, but not during the busy season May 30-September 1.
  • Guest will have to pay an entrance fee into the park. $6.00 per vehicle. Limit of 2-8 people per vehicle.
  • Crowded beach. Any beach in the Destin area is great for a wedding. The only downfall to having a wedding especially during the spring and summer is all the beach goers!
